[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Papi needs an owner who can be home as much as possible due to his separation anxiety. He loves being held, getting chest and neck scratches, and to be the only dog in your life. He's great at playing fetch, and sitting on command. Papi was born in February 2020. I adopted him in April 2020. Due to COVID restrictions, he did not get properly socialized with people or other dogs. He did live with a senior miniature poodle, and they did get along great. That dog recently passed away. He is OK with my boyfriend's Scottish terrier but doesn't want to play with her when she initiates play. He can coexist with her, and he does mind her, but he seems to be nervous about her. Papi seems the most comfortable when no other dogs are around or in the house. Papi would prefer to sit on my lap and not leave my side when I walk around the house. I have never left him home alone because he cries and acts scared. My mother has been babysitting him quite a bit so that I can leave the house for extended periods of time. He has separation anxiety. When he is being babysat, he apparently cries for me when I'm gone. I've been told he howls in the kitchen. I have not been successful with house-training him. He will use a potty pad if there is one available in the room. I take him outside every couple of hours to do his business. Since ingesting a Nexguard flea treatment chewable, he's had ocular seizures, AKA 'fly biting'. When these happen, he stops what he's doing to look up in the air. Then he bites at the air in front of him. That's all that happens, but I assume these episodes make him feel uneasy so I try to comfort him in the moment. He's previously been on Phenobarbital, but I have not refilled the prescription yet. He needs blood work to see if the medication is working for him. He does resource guard, and has bitten me on one or two occasions. I have not tried to work on this with training yet, so I avoid situations where he will do it. Earlier this year, he had knee surgery to correct a luxating patella for his back leg. The surgery was successful, but he will keep that leg raised from time to time. I can no longer be home 24/7 like I was the first couple of years of his life. I love Papi so much and care about his feelings and needs. I can't give him full-time attention anymore, or the kind of lifestyle he needs. I would prefer that Papi go to a home whose new parent has a lot of time, love and attention to give. A parent who is patient and will care about his needs. Please reach out if you know you can do this for Papi. Located in COOS BAY, OR.
