Beau is an intelligent, motivated dog that will do best with one person. He is 75% Heeler, 12% Border Collie and the rest is a mix of other herding dogs. We think that Beau is 9 months old. He is extremely loyal to me and wary of new people. My husband and I have had him for 3 months and he is bonded to me to the point that he sometimes nips and growls at my husband when Beau thinks I may be in danger. He nips/barks at other people when they try to reach out to pet him but does not nip/bark when he's walking through a crowd. We have had him in many crowded settings without incident. Beau does well at the dog park with all dogs other than unneutered males. He can be aggressive toward other dogs when he is on a leash. I don't know how he does with children but I would be cautious. Beau is great on road trips. He's small for a heeler: 16' at the shoulder and about 20# which makes traveling with him quite easy. Beau is also great walking on a leash. He knows how to heel, sit, stay, down. I have spent a lot of time with him doing basic training and just started a little agility work. Because of his protectiveness of me, we have to rehome him. He started taking serotonin medication which has helped but he would do best with a single person that wants a loyal friend. He is extremely reliable about not peeing or pooping in the house. He's been left alone for hours and not torn up any of our stuff. We make sure he has plenty of toys to keep him busy.
