Hi Everybody, we have had to make the very difficult decision to rehome our pup. This is Paco, he is a beautiful 2 year old Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd Mix. He is a very sweet guy, but he has fear/aggression towards children. We have to make the difficult decision to find Paco a home without kids because we are bringing one into our home soon. Paco hasn't had past trauma, and there is no clear reason why he is so alarmed by children. He has had some exposure to them and shown some progress with kids he gets to know, but is not safe with new kids. This includes young teenagers in many cases. Paco loves going to the woods, hiking, swimming, playing keepaway, and snuggling. He is a velcro dog, and will follow you around the house or anywhere you go. Paco wants to be right by your side. He would do best in a house with someone who works from home and wants a great companion, and who has some open space for him. He could get along well with another dog, but he is selective about what dogs he likes and it would most likely take him a minute to warm up to another dog. He can be dominant with other dogs and would do best with a submissive dog. We aren't sure how he would get along with cats or other animals, as he hasn't been around them. Paco is well-behaved and listens well. He is very protective of his people, and has some territorial behaviors. He will alert you when anyone arrives to the property and will bark until he knows the person is a friend. He is very loving towards people he knows. Paco likes low key, low stress environments where there aren't a lot of new people coming in and out. He feels it is his job to protect the area, so he is most relaxed when he doesn't have to be so vigilant. If you or someone you know are looking for a loving companion and have the right home environment for Paco, we would love to talk with you. We are looking for someone who doesn't have kids in their life, who wants a dog who sleeps indoors and who has enough time and energy to devote to this sweet guy. He is not as high energy as most heelers, but he does need daily walks and exercise.
