About Ron

Adoption Fee: $150
Chihuahua
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Ron, a little Chihuahua mix (probably with Dachshund) that weighs about 7 %BD lbs. Ron is about 7 years old and came to us from Mesa AZ by way of Nogales AZ. He along with his 2 roomies could no longer be cared for by their previous owner. Ron is a super sweet and loving dog who, after a little 'get-to-know-you' time in his foster home became a sweet cuddler. When Ron came to Cherished Tails he had a severe case of what is called 'Happy Tail' and it is not a happy thing. Basically, Ron chased and attacked his tail with a vengeance, doing some serious damage to it (and thus the reason for the muzzle in the original photo). What was left of his tail was amputated, he was put on some medications and he recovered completely. While he still will chase his 'tail' at times, the intensity has gone down tremendously and incidents of Happy Tail have nearly ceased. Ron gets along great with other dogs, both large and small. He is mostly house trained, walks well on a leash and is crate trained. We've put a little more weight on him since he came to Cherished Tails and is probably at his perfect weight right now. Ron sleeps in bed with his foster parents, usually on foster dad's pillow when it's warm or under the covers when it's a little cooler. His new passion is toys! Ron loves to walk around with a squeaky toy in his mouth, or maybe one that crunches. If he can't find a toy, an empty plastic bottle works great too - it gives that satisfying crunch when it's chomped on and he can usually manage to bring it on the bed. Ron also loves to ride in cars and he does not need a crate to travel. He will snuggle under a blanket or coat in the back seat when he is tired or sit up on the passengers lap to look out when he is interested in the surroundings. Ron can be a bit vocal at times, though it's not the typical Chihuahua yip, but apartment living may not be the best situation for him. He has had a recent dental, he's neutered, and completely up to date on his vaccinations. This boy is ready for his forever family.
