Nahla was adopted directly from a closed down breeding facility in the Midwest and currently resides in New Jersey with adults and children in the home. She is a beautiful, well taken care of Australian Shepherd who is true to her breed as a herding dog. With her immediate family she is extremely protective and loyal, sweet and loving, playful and high energy when engaged, very smart and learns quickly. She is house broken, great with other dogs, great at daycare with dogs and staff and loves being in the car. Nahla is also very wary of new people and takes a long time to warm up to others inside the home. Response is incessant barking, she can be difficult to re direct in these scenarios, hesitant on walks near the home. She has recently exhibited resource guarding with heightened anxiety with human food, experienced growling and nipping at times during these moments. She is a Herding dog who is true to her breed with some jumping and high energy behavior. Nahla needs a loving home where her family has the time to help her slowly adjust. We believe she is an amazing dog with a lot of love to give.
