About Oslo

Rehoming our boy, Oslo. - 3 years old (birthday is 1/23/2020) - about 45-50 lbs - male, fixed - We rescued him from a shelter in Nov. 2021 as they were going to put him down. - Not good with cats and unsure about children (I would say not good to be safe). - About: Oslo (nicknamed Ozzy) is extremely smart, loyal and loves to cuddle. He loves to play fetch or do games that work his mind/nose. He's a lover of his pack and owners, which breaks our heart having to rehome him. - House trained and knows simple commands. Will 'come' across an entire field when called and will even stay nearby off leash. Extremely smart and does well with boundaries and rules (although he tries to test them at times). We don't even crate him when we leave the house as he doesn't tear anything up or get into anything. He's okay on the leash but can pull if he sees another dog, cat, or squirrel, etc. I noticed improvement when I did one-on-one training using 'heel' with him, but don't have the time to do that with him anymore unfortunately. - Reason for rehoming: He is our 3rd dog and it's been too much to handle with a new baby. He has a fear-based and protection-based nipping issue with new people who come into our house (especially men). It hasn't happened with every stranger that walks in but has happened at least 5 times. I believe it can be contained and worked on as he improved with us when we were able to focus on him more. However, with a new baby, we unfortunately don't have the time to do the training with him he needs. Due to this issue, we also don't trust him with our baby around and feel he'd be better in a home without kids. He's never shown any agression towards me or my husband even when we tug on him in any which way. He's a really good dog outside of this issue and I believe with the right home, it can become extinct or at least improved.
