About Legend

For each month until the end of this year, we will be featuring the ones who have been in our rescue the longest. Each dog will have a reduced adoption fee. All of the dogs being featured are great dogs but for whatever reason, they have had little interest. In the case of Legend, we believe he is a victim of 'Black Dog Syndrome'. Do you know that black dogs are the most overlooked in the shelters and the first to be euthanized? Every year, there hundreds of thousands of black dogs who will never have a chance. Please give Legend a chance! Have you met the dog, the myth, the Legend! Meet Legend, the 2-year old, 60 lb Lab/Boxer mix with a big heart and a story to tell. Legend was born on April Fool's Day 2021 and was adopted at 4 weeks old where he lived with his mom and human baby sister until a few months ago. Through no fault of his own, he was given away to a stranger and subsequently found on the street where he ended up at the Animal Shelter. Before then, he was trained with both verbal and non-verbal commands. He is a good boy who can sit, go 'down', shake, and does wonderfully in a crate. He is potty-trained and let's you know when it's time to go. He picks up routines very quickly. He runs into his crate at night when he sees it's time for bed. He also goes to his 'place' when he sees his foster mom and dad getting his food ready. Legend would be great as a dog brother or an only dog. He currently lives with a 90-lb foster brother and they are thick as thieves. They even nap together! He has not been tested yet with dogs smaller than him. In his previous home, he lived with a 3-year old child and his foster mom was told they got along fabulously. Legend is neutered, vaccinated and is heart-worm negative. He is the pinnacle of health. He may have been born on April's Fool's Day, but this dog is no joke. He's the real deal and would make a great addition to any family.
