About Lavender

*TO SUBMIT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION GO TO WWW.APLACEOFHOPERESCUE.COM* Meet LAVENDER is a 3 year old, 17 pound poodle mixed breed LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Love and care, doggy friend, fenced yard HIGHLIGHTS: Playful and sweet, but timid in new situations. Lavender came to us from a terrible hoarding situation. Before we got her she had she gave birth to her last litter of puppies. Sadly the puppies were not protected and suffered a very sad fate before we got her. She was scared and confused and missing the babies she only had for a very brief time. All of Lavender's good life experiences so far have happened since she was brought into rescue. Physically she came in with no fur, a skin infection and several wounds from other dogs attacking her. Mentally she was terrified of everyone and would run and hide. With love and patience, Lavender has come a long way, but she still has a long way to go. She is enjoying being a pet and loves living inside a home. Lavender sleeps on the big bed and snuggles with her foster mom (on her terms), gets regular meals, enjoys treats several times a day and can play with the other dogs in her foster home without being attacked. Her skin has healed and her fur is coming in beautifully. She is looking more and more like the pretty girl she should always have been! Lavender loves to play with other dogs and is going to be afraid in a home without having another dog or dogs around. She needs a best furry friend (Blondie, who is in rescue also and came from the same hoarding situation, is one of her favorite pups if anyone would like to adopt two sweet girls! ). Lavender has not been tested with kids or cats. She needs work with the leash and absolutely needs a home with a fenced yard. She rides ok in the car but is still a bit nervous unless she is being held. Lavender is not fully potty trained, but is learning! You have to remember that this is the first time in her life that she's lived in a house and been treated as a pet! Lavender has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She is looking for a calm home with a very patient family who will encourage her and give her lots of confidence. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. Most others we will consider within a 5-hour drive. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted.
