Good day; I have come to a crossroads in my life that I believe I have to get rid of my dalmatian.%A0 Well actually it was my wife's, however my wife passed away on June 25th, 2023 at the age of 42. Here are the general circumstances: Coco was whelped on 08/31/2016 as indicated by her certified Pedigree paperwork from the American Kennel Club.%A0 Our history of her is very limited as we have only had her since February 5th, 2022.%A0 Coco was originally adopted by us for the sole purpose of being my wife's service companion as my wife had suffered multiple illnesses and did spend a lot of time in bed and she was looking for a breed which was not only a bigger type of dog, but loved to cuddle/snuggle/etc, as well as get along with our elderly Shihtzu, 'Willow'.%A0 Up to approximately December 2022 Coco got along great with Willow.%A0 In December 2022 we noticed her get aggressive towards Willow a few times, and couldn't understand why.%A0 Willow is also a sweetheart and is very friendly and non-aggressive towards anyone.%A0 Then one day Coco actually attacked Willow without any type of perceived provocation.%A0 We thought it was a one time thing and that would be the end of it, but no, after we had separated the two, Coco went after Willow again, violently picking her up and shaking her side to side.%A0 Please note that neither Coco, nor Willow are fixed. After this episode we decided it was best to keep the two separated. Sadly for Coco this meant a lot of time in the bedroom with my wife, although we did try to get her out and exercise on our daily walks which consisted of about 1/2 hour each time we went out, 3 - 4 times daily.%A0 Coco was definitely attached to my wife and spent a lot of time in bed with my wife eating wheat thins, chewing on the pig skins and hocks which I bought for her monthly and enjoying her share of chicken, steak, etc whenever I made it along with vegetables and the occasional sweet treat. Throughout the year 2023 I would venture to guess that she ended up going after Willow approximately 4 times that I can remember including today's episode.%A0 Truth be told, over the past two weeks I have tried reintroducing her into the living room and she became accustomed to me telling her not to go near Willow.%A0 I don't think its fair to either one of them to have to stay penned up inside one of the rooms and both of them are pretty much social butterflies outside of that. Besides the noted aggression towards our Shihtzu, Coco seems to be the perfect companion.%A0 She is very friendly and I take her to Knoebels Amusement park about twice a week to allow her to walk around, meet and greet people and take in all of the smells and sights.%A0 I have not taken her hiking because of the ticks this season and shy away from that.%A0 Please note that while at Knoebels she seems to want to avoid any other dog that is walking around and goes out of her way to walk away. Coco absolutely loves cats and tries to play with them anytime we get outside and is the neighborhood 'greeter', always wanting to say hello to people and other animals.%A0 Overall she seems to be pretty happy - sans having to stay in the bedroom.%A0 I have tried to introduce her to various toys and she honestly doesn't seem that interested, but maybe its just the toys that are the problem. She is absolutely intelligent and its funny that she takes blankets that I have folded and placed on a lower shelf and makes herself a bed with them and she will lie on the floor on the blanket with the cat.%A0 She just adores attention and always seems to be there to lend a hand, whether you want her to or not.%A0 She knows basic commands and I can let her off the leash outside and she will come back to me usually. She loves her treats, especially her Greenies, pig skins/pig ears and other treats I give her.%A0 She is updated on her Rabies shot and I have proof of that as well.%A0 I don't want to get rid of her, but I absolutely can't keep on her or my Shihtzu locked away in another room all day. Once again please understand that I don't want to get rid of her, but since her mommy died and I am the only one here I do not want to see our other dog suffer because of Coco being nasty towards her.
