About Woodford

Personality: Woodford is a gentle soul, despite the hardships he has faced. He may be quite shy and reserved initially, but with time and patience, he's sure to come out of his shell. Woodford is a dog who thrives in the company of other canines. He enjoys the presence of other dogs and seems to gain confidence when around them. This makes him a wonderful companion for a family with existing dogs or someone who is considering adopting another dog to keep him company. Woodford is about 2 years old and 40 pounds. Ideal Home: Woodford would do best in a home where he is not the only dog. Having a doggy friend to show him the ropes and provide companionship would be a great comfort to him. This loving pup deserves a patient and understanding family who is willing to help him build trust and confidence. Regular grooming is essential to keep him comfortable and healthy, ensuring his fur remains clean and free from mats. Woodford also appreciates being pampered with love, toys, and tasty treats. Compatibility: Woodford is known to get along well with other dogs, and he's likely to thrive in a home with canine companions. However, his opinion of cats remains unknown, so careful introductions would be necessary if there are feline residents in the potential forever home. Background: Woodford's journey to finding his forever home has been a challenging one. He was rescued from a difficult situation, being part of a 'Doodle' backyard breeder/hoarder case, where he and 24 other Doodle mixes were taken into the care of animal control. At the time of his rescue, Woodford was in terrible condition, with severely matted and filthy fur, making it difficult for him to walk and see properly. The poor pup was living in unsanitary conditions, with feces and urine stuck in his matted fur. Many of the dogs from this rescue were timid and had to be shaved down, and Woodford is one of them. We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes.
