Meet Jewels - A Curious Companion Seeking a Forever Home! Jewels is a beautiful, inquisitive lizard looking for an experienced, patient forever home. Though a bit shy and still new to handling, Jewels has a gentle demeanor and is learning to trust people. Jewels would do best with someone who has experience working with large lizards and understands the patience needed to help build confidence. Jewels can be hesitant about being removed from the enclosure and prefers a gentle, steady approach. With gloves and time, Jewels is starting to learn that being handled is a safe and positive experience. Jewels is a fantastic eater and enjoys keeping a close eye on the surroundings, even when pretending to be shy. This young lizard has plenty of growing left to do! Jewels' species can reach up to 6.5 feet in length and weigh as much as 17 pounds, although the typical adult size averages about 5 feet and 15 pounds. Because of this, Jewels will require a very large, secure enclosure-bigger than what a typical pet store sells-to be happy and healthy in the long term. Jewels was found wandering in a parking lot before being brought to the shelter, where a volunteer saw an opportunity to help Jewels find a new beginning. Since then, Jewels has started to open up, showing curiosity and a readiness to form a bond with a loving, knowledgeable person who can offer stability and care.
