About Dax

Adoption Fee: $250
Rottweiler
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

This squishy-faced cutie is Dax, 3 years young and not yet neutered. We haven't met Dax in person yet, but he sounds like a typical, fun, playful young male. Dax's family moved back to the Pacific Northwest from Missouri this past year, and lived on 35 acres with Dax before coming here. Unfortunately, due to a divorce and not being able to find housing that will allow her to keep him, his owner has made the difficult decision to rehome Dax, sharing that he's a really great dog. Dax has been mostly an outside dog since he was about a year old. He was house trained as a youngster, but will need a refresher on indoor manners and behavior. He reportedly can be destructive or excessively vocal when left alone, so he's crated when he has to be left for short periods. Outside he's in his element - he loves to run, jump, rip up toys (I have a Destroyer of All Toys in my house too!), and will dig or destroy plants if left outside without adequate toys to play with. Like most Rottweilers, he loves to play tug. And like many of our dogs, especially the 'COVID puppies,' Dax is a little unsure/wary around new people. He barks at strangers, but according to his owner, he warms up quickly. At his heart he's a very friendly dog, but like a a lot of dogs born in 2020, he wasn't as well-socialized to visitors/new people as puppies need, so will need a little remedial work with feeling safe around people he doesn't know. The great news is that Dax loves other dogs - he's super playful and a new home with another dog about his age and size would be great! He's also been great around kids of all ages, from toddlers all the way to teenagers. And--bonus points!--he's lived with and been fine around cats. Dax is a very active young male Rottweiler, and needs someone willing to put in a little work with training. He would be great as a hiking companion, or fun games like nose work or barn hunt or agility or dock diving or'|you get the idea - a home that will give him the mental and physical exercise all dogs need, and the connection and bestboy companionship that our Rottweilers thrive on.
