About LUNA

Golden Retriever
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Name:%A0 LUNA Breed:%A0 English Cream Golden Retriever Age:%A0 %A07 years old (60#) Sex:%A0 %A0 %A0Female (spayed) Location:%A0 Baltimore, MD Vet Info:%A0 HW negative UTD on vaccines. Possible lenticular%A0sclerosis. Owner reports Luna is 'partially but significantly blind. Bumps into walls, can't see food treat held more than 2inches from front of her nose (btw, does not bite when hand fed treats)'|Has skin condition of itchy scaley skin that exacerbates periodically' Owner reports: Luna's vision has become worse and has impacted her behavior. 'She has a sweet disposition but as her vision has gotten worse, the house has gotten more destroyed. As that has happend, we have had to confine her to smaller places and the destruction has worsened. We are away from home many hours a day and confining her has apparently made her more upset.' 'Besides confining to smaller rooms, trying to keep her in backyard. Obviously, that is only possible when the temp and weather is good (not often). Tried prozac, not work. Tried gabapentin, requires repeated doses that I hate to do to her.' 'When we are together, she does well in hotel room. (Just lies down) But if we are not there, will look vigorously for food, thus causing destruction.' Luna is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house. She is said to be housebroken and leash trained. Luna is reported to be good with adults and children of all ages as well as other dogs and cats. Luna lives with a German Shepard and 2 cats. Luna is possessive of her food. According to her owner, Luna 'Snapped at Shepard around food. If she really likes someone, she mouths their arm (lightly places mouth around arm so tongue is full on arm, no pressure at all and does it to show excited affection). Never bit.' 'She has a very sweet personality. Never mean. Just hard to manage for this household now. The kennel (Sobo doggy daycare) and vet love her temprement. She deserves to be happy and we are just no longer equipped to be able to give her what she deserves. We have heavy hearts and want a loving home for her.' Can anyone help sweet Luna? **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
