Kalani is a Black Mouth Cur, please research the breed lol. She is fiercely loyal, protective, and GENTLE. She is amazing with all kids, but will growl and leave when she's had enough being climbed on. She is extremely tuned to your emotions, and won't leave your sidewhen you are sad, lonely, etc. She adores snuggles, and will awkwardly list her boney body all over you. She loves to sleep in the bed and can make herself incredibly tiny, lol. But she is fully crate trained, and will sleep there just as well. She only howls in her kennel if she needs to go potty. She is potty trained. Kalani is all hound, and will vocalize whenever she has something to say, haha. Play growls, whines, barks, and howls, but she does understand no bark and quiet. Just don't expect her to listen if she is very focused! She LOVES all toys, but tug of war and destroying boxes are her favorites, lol. She is very good about only chewing what she should. This girl has SPEED. I've never seen a more agile dog. She loves to run and jump, and will go forever at the dog park. She would be a fantastic agility dog! Her true love is herding. If she sees horses, bikes, atvs, cows, she wants to herd them. Her biggest flaw is if she gets loose, she does not want to come back. She stays within sight, but will not come until she is tired. She has some ridiculous quirks that make her uniquely herself. She is not a licker. If she likes you and trusts you, throughout the day she will come to you, put her nose to your face, take a few deep breaths, and then lick you once, twice if you are lucky! I love it. She tries to be a lap dog, but is awkward about it, very stiff and bony until she falls asleep. She is also very sensitive... harsh words hurt her feelings, and she will be sad for days. She needs a very gentle but guiding hand to help her through anything new. For her, consistency and routine are the best. Kalani aspires to be alpha dog of the pack daily, but sucks at it lol. She would make a terrible alpha. But she will taunt the alpha all day, shoving toys in their faces, trying to get them to try to take it. Kalani is not a water dog, and never will be lol. Not a fan. Kalani would make an incredible partner for running, jogging, biking, camping, farm life, etc. She needs more exercise than most, and thrives on it! She is good inside, but needs to run a ton! Once Kalani gains your trust, she will never leave your side, but it takes time, and consistency. This girl has come a long way from the scared, antisocial puppy that had never seen a house or stairs or wood floors or carpets, etc. She has overcome a ton, and her potential is endless with the right person/family!
