Meet Brownie - he's about as sweet as his name implies! Sometimes he'll give you a quirky smile showing all his teeth, which is a guaranteed laugh. He is a mini-Aussie (maybe some dachshund too) with really short legs, but don't let his shortness fool you. He can slinky his body and stand tall on two feet. He's a very loyal dog and wants to please his people. Brownie likes both female & male humans, but seems to attach to the ladies in his life the most, he'll sleep under foster Mom's chair as she works on the computer. He is potty trained and does well when foster mom takes him outside. He does come when being called (though sometimes he has selective hearing if there's something better to investigate). He likes to sleep under the kitchen table, so he now has a bed there. Brownie is very friendly and submissive, when you come up to pet him, but outgoing as well. He comes to humans for love and affection, sometimes he can be a little on the pushy side. He does like to give kisses, and he'll snuggle up with you, if you let him. He seems to enjoy having other dogs around and seems to have picked out his favorite friends. He can be a little protective over his humans if another dog is growling (playfully), not sure he understands they're playing. He is also protective over bones, so we'll keep those up for now. Brownie is a good boy, and oh-so-cute, but will need to work on leash training and some regular commands. This dog loves to play chase the other dog in the yard, and can benefit great having a yard to run in. He seems to do best with shy or more reserved dogs, and eventually loves to play, sometimes he can get a bit rough. If you have an alpha dog, it will take probably a good month, maybe two before they get used to each other. He is not sure about new people and will bark at people coming into your house until he gets to know them, probably best if they ignore him at first. When playing with people, sometimes he'll growl or bite at the air, he has playfully mouthed my hand, from our understanding he was a yard dog and is still trying to figure out his playful human boundaries, but is not trying to be viscous. Don't be fooled by him fitting into the senior category, he is very athletic and active. Re-evaluating his reactive barking, I think he needs to be in a home with older kids, that don't get alarmed by his barking when you come through the door. Brownie is currently being fostered in Okeechobee, FL and is doing well undergoing heartworm treatment. Think you can be Brownie's always and forever? Apply today at ewenityfarm.org
