FOSTER or ADOPTER NEEDED 'What a good boy!' That's the unanimous decision of the Tewksbury Animal Control Officers! Due to his sweet nature, this homeless Sharpei has earned the coveted role of office dog. You know he's gotta be good for everyone to be so smitten. He doesn't like being kenneled and alone and so the fine Animal Control Officers are desperate to get him into a loving home ASAP! Please help Harley, a 9-year old male Sharpei in need of a foster or adopter as soon as possible. After a life with one family, including neglect in his latter years, Harley was rescued by animal control. The only alternative he was given, in a supposedly low-kill state, was an invitation from two shelters to be euthanized. One for free! Sight unseen! Harley was recently checked by a veterinarian where his neglect was confirmed. He was diagnosed with severe ear infections and a painful eye condition in which the eyelashes turn inward and constantly rub his eyes (eye entropion). You can see the discomfort from his squinted eyes. Harley is now on antibiotics to heal his ears and eye ointment to alleviate pain. Should he need eye surgery, his adopter would not have the financial burden. Animal Rescue Konnection will subsidize that cost. Harley is good with all children, but due to various factors, such as his size, the upheaval he's been through, and his current medical needs, any kids in the family should be at least 10 years old. Also due to all of these conditions Harley is a bit reactive initially around other dogs but is manageable around them with proper introductions. He should be the only dog in the home for the same reasons above. No cats. This dog is a real sweetheart who loves people. For a genuine companion, please consider fostering or adopting Harley.
