My name is Atau (Ah-tay-you) and I am a very special girl just under 2 years old and looking for a very special furever home. I am a deaf dog who loves my foster humans with all my heart. I am a very smart dog, I love the outdoors, especially the smells and I am eager to please. I need a very special family with enough love and patience to continue my training and help me learn this thing called life. I wasn't properly socialized during my first couple years of life, so I didn't get to learn the things that puppies get to learn like the feeling of gentle raindrops on my back or not to chase cars. My foster mom has taught me so much in a short period of time because I am such a smart girl. I need a family that will help me reach the tremendous potential that I have. Oh, my foster mom says that I can't overstate just how much progress I have made in the short 3 months I have been with them. While I play and take walks with one of my foster sisters, I am sometimes reactive/aggressive with other dogs, but continued medication and training will probably help me get over this with time. I am already showing signs of improvement. I would really like to chase the cats, but foster mom is teaching me that I can't really do that. I will need to be the only animal in my furever house. I would also do best with older kids because I am a strong dog and I sometimes forget my strength. I love to be active, and I love to be around my humans as much as possible.
