About FOREST

Beagle / Lab
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

Name: Forest Age: DOB 3/11/23 Breed: Beagle/Australian Shepherd/Lab Sex: Male (not neutered) Location: Haywood County, NC Vet Info: Forest's owner gave him one set of vaccines from Tractor Supply right before his accident at six weeks old. She also tells us he's been wormed twice. Forest weighs about 15 pounds, will likely weigh about 30/35 pounds full grown. Dog Info: Forest's was born in a litter from his owner's dog (when they rescued her, they didn't know she was pregnant). At approximately six weeks old, Forest was kicked by a mule. His owner told us their vet said he might not have quality of life if he survives, but he's doing great! His diagnosis was severe concussion and he became blind as a result (he can hear well). Now, he's no longer on medication and even running around and playing with the other dogs. His owner said it took him five days to remember how to eat on his own and he had to remember how to do everything, but now he wants to play, is walking and running around, and is doing great! His owner is hoping he can find a special home or rescue, and writes, 'I was not planning to keep him prior to him going blind because I have too many animals...' Forest is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house. He is not yet housebroken, but he gets taken out immediately after eating to help him learn. He's a friendly little boy and is good with both men and women, children, and male and female dogs. His owner tells us he's mostly kept separated from the cats because he likes to chew on things. He can be a little bit shy around new people, but wags his tail when he wants attention. He can be a 'little bit' possessive of food around the other dogs, and his owner gave us more details: '..if he thinks another dog is near he might growl a little bit. He's fine with people, people can do anything to him and take food from his bowl. Still in puppy stage and a bit mouthy.' He may need help finding his food. Forest has never bitten or snapped. Forest's owner feels he adapts well to new situations and tells us that he will bump into something and remember it's there after only bumping two times. She also wants us to know what a sweet little boy he is! 'He's very sweet. He's been through a lot, loves kids. He's very deserving of a loving home! He loves his bed, toys and stuffed animals.' Please note we will ask for a vet reference. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
