Goldie is a young Golden Retriever abandoned in a city without any survival skills. He struggled daily to find food and water, and cope with the disorientation of suddenly becoming homeless. He is friendly and loving, never giving anyone a problem while abandoned, nor at the vet clinic where he has been castrated, vaccinated, tested for various canine diseases, microchipped and a passport issued. He was adopted here in Bulgaria for just a few weeks but he became food-aggressive. They did not have the experience or skills to counter this unexpected behaviour so they became scared of him, exonerating the situation, and he has been returned to us. He will shortly be moved to kennels with a dog behaviourist for assessment and retraining. We will have a full evaluation of Goldie's behaviour and we would like him to be adopted directly from the kennels so that the good work will not be undone. The behaviourist is willing to be in contact with any potential adopter to discuss behaviour and ascertain suitability. Goldie deserves an experienced owner and an understanding home, where he will once again become the friendly dog who loves and wants to be loved. We would prefer a child-free home to make sure that there are no incidents that may spark the unwanted behaviour again. Please don't apply if you have no knowledge of how to keep such a dog from resuming bad habits that could escalate. Thanks!
