About Turbo

Lab / Great Dane
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Turbo!! He is a big boy with a big heart but he needs an owner with large breed experience to help him feel confident and keep up with his training. Turbo is a 5 year old, male Lab and Great Dane mix best guess. He weighs 105 pounds. He has been neutered, updated on vaccines and microchipped. He is Heartworm negative. Turbo is such a loyal dog to his family. He loves you so much and bonds quickly. He does get protective over his family and will guard the home and yard. He's very smart and learns quickly. His foster says this about him: z%8FHe is loving, loves pets and cuddles, sleeps on the foot of the bed, wants to be near his people. He loves nylabones and stuffed toys. He is a pleaser- constantly seeks approval- he's very responsive to basic commands. He responds well to positive reinforcement and corrections. He's incredibly smart and wants to be a part of the family! ɕ%8F Turbo is potty trained but may mark territory a few times in a new place but does not do it long term. He's been great on car rides and if you have a sunroof he loves sticking his head out. He's strong and pulls on the leash if he sees another dog but aside from that he walks very well. He has done well learning crate training and now does not protest at all. He has a moderate energy level. He loves to run around and play but is not overly hyper. He is mostly a couch potato that likes to play with his toys and hang out with his people. Turbo is so sweet and appreciative of human kindness. He was raised with small children and would do great with respectful kids. He has been fostered with younger kids and does well. He really loves kids but will occasionally knock them over but he doesn't mean to. His first foster had several dogs. He initially got along with most of them and disliked one but never attacked. He just backed off and growled. That foster didn't keep him longer than two days so there was no decompression or adjustment to see how he would do. His current foster does not have other pets. Turbo has had some reactivity toward dogs on walks and may be doing it in a protective manner. He may or may not do well with another dog in the home. He would need slow introductions and time to figure things out. Poor guy lost his family of 5 years and we know that was hard on him. He needs some time to adjust to new things. His ideal home would be one with a fenced yard so he has time to learn and train without any reactivity issues on walks. He would do best with no other dogs or potentially could get along with the right dog. He would likely not do well in a larger pack of dogs. He seems to be most upset by white dogs %A4'%8D'ە%8F We know it makes little sense but that is what we've seen so far. Turbo has not shown any food, toy or treat aggression with humans. He takes treats gently even from toddlers. We don't know if he would share with another dog. We know he is not perfect and will need some training but he will be such a loyal family dog in return. We hope someone will choose this sweet guy to spend their life with. Vet and home checks required Fenced yard preferred Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) '%BC%8FPlease message us directly at [email protected] with questions or to get an application.'%BC%8F
