About Bear

Border Collie / Lab
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] [Read About Natural Seizure Care] We have had Bear since she was born in our backyard 14 years ago. She has been an integral part of our family this entire time. Unfortunately, we are moving to Okinawa, Japan on military orders and are not allowed to take her with us. Even if we could, I do not have the heart to put her through the stress of being loaded into the underside of a plane, and do not think she would survive regardless. I also refuse to give her up to the pound, knowing she would never be adopted. We love her too much to do that. Bear is a sweetheart, she only wants to be with her people, and prefers to sleep on her bed as long as one of her persons is in the room with her. Now for the issues. Bear, being at such an advanced age, has multiple medical conditions. She suffers from Stage 2 Renal failure, has mild seizures, incontinence, and muscular dystrophy in her hips, and possibly has the beginning stages of dementia (she has been showing some of the same signs as one of my previous dogs). She struggles moving up and down stairs of any size. With all that said, it breaks my heart to have to offer her up for adoption, but my hope is that we can find a good and loving home that will cherish and love her in her final years. I can be contacted via both email and phone.
