About Richie

RICHIE is a fun, energetic 1 year old Australian Cattle dog looking for an active adopter who will include him in their life. He's a perfect adventure buddy looking for a human(s) to love!! Will be a great running and/or hiking partner with his medium/high energy level. Richie LOVES to snuggle with you (once he settles down). Before bed he will lay with his foster, which he loves! Likes other dogs, treats, chewing bones, playing fetch, being near 'his person', & breakfast/dinner! Dog friendly and would do well with a well balanced dog to help him learn proper 'dog boundaries'. Housetrained. Crate trained. Has not shown any destructive behavior inside or outside. Knows basic commands 'sit, down' and is learning to 'check-in' with his foster when out on walks. Walks well on leash and could be good off leash if trained, he has good recall. Rides well in the car. Sleeps through the night in his crate. Dislikes being away from his person, not being allowed to bark on walks, loud noises like fireworks (but doesn't seem to care about thunder). Not a big barker, but does get excited when he sees other dogs that he wants to meet. His foster is working on breaking his attention on walks when he sees other dogs, but he will need consistent training. It is not aggressive, but more him being frustrated that he can't interact with everything & everyone. Only homes where he won't be left alone for long hours will be considered. A work from home adopter would be best. We are recommending children over 10 with a family who understands the herding breed. Has not been cat tested, so we will not be adopting him to a home with cats Richie is 35 lbs. neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, including rabies, heartworm negative and current on prevention. Available for meet/greet in Colorado after application has been submitted and reviewed.
