About Opie

We have come to the very difficult decision to re-home our dog. Here is a little more information about our 6.5 year old dog, Opie: Opie came to us as puppy when he was 8 weeks old. We bought him from a private owner in 2016. We didn't have a lot of history on him. He was born in October of 2016. We brought him home to our 4 year old rescue dog. There was an altercation in the very beginning when our older dog (Paul) snapped at Opie, but otherwise, they have primarily gotten along since. We lived in an apartment and were walked on leash with off leash trips to a dog park or open field. We now live in a house with a backyard and he continues to get regular walks. Opie has always been leash reactive and has been wearing a muzzle for walks for the last couple of years. He's triggered by knocks on the door and reacts to new people coming in the house with a lot of barking. When Opie is not triggered, he is so loving and smart. He has a personality that is loyal and wants to be your companion. He is the king of snuggling. Always resting his adorable face on your knee or climbing on your lap. He loves to gives hugs when asked and has a handful of tricks. He is food motivated and loves to play games to earn a treat. Fetch is life for Opie. He could run for hours!! We now have a toddler in the house and while Opie is very loving with her (never any issues with her since we brought her home), the hard truth is that he deserves a better life. We no longer have the time to give Opie the attention he deserves and requires. We are hopeful the right home is out there. With the right training and exercise, Opie has all of the qualities to be an amazing companion. Thank you for considering helping us find a new home for Opie.
