About Lady

This precious little one is Lady, a Shih Tzu mix. She is one of the 36 dogs surrendered after a house fire in Center Junction. She was the oldest at 12 years and was the most neglected dog. Lady is a tiny girl and only weighs 9 pounds. Lady had not been groomed in years, we couldn't even find her eyes or her paws. We had to shave her to the skin. She had three mammary tumors, her teeth were nasty, and her ears and eyes were infected and she was blind. She needed a lot of help. We treated her eyes and ears and removed her mammary tumors and did her dental and spay. The pathology report for her mammary tumors shows that two of them were cancerous. Shortly after that we noticed she was urinating often and small amounts. X-rays and ultrasound showed a giant bladder stone. It was 3 centimeters long and 2 ��%BD%BD centimeters wide which is huge for a 9 pound dog. Her next surgery was to remove the bladder stone. We sent her bladder stone off to the University of Minnesota. Her stone was a struvite stone so she needs to eat food low in phosphorus so another stone doesn't form. Lady happily eats Science Diet C/D food. Next we made sure Lady's infection caused by the bladder stone was cleared up. Lady is one tough little girl. She endured a lot to get healthy again and was sweet through all of it. Lady is ok with other dogs but really prefers her human. She spent a lot of years living in a hoarder home and now knows what attention and love are. Lady is blind but navigates around a familiar environment with ease. Lady is finally ready to find a home of her own with a person who will love and care for her. She will need to remain on the C/D food and takes Ostilox every day for arthritis and inflammation. This costs about $25 a month. Lady is housetrained, spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm tested.
