About Khushi

Adoption Fee: $50
Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Khushi is a Hindi word for 'happiness,' because that is what this little guy brings to the people who know him. Originally adopted from ACS, Khushi came from the Alabama Hurricanes in a poor state. Through dedicated training, he has become a well-behaved and loving boy. Due to significant personal changes, we are seeking a new home for Khushi. He is an absolutely stunning dog, the kind that everyone stops to ask about on the street. Though he is shy at first, once he has met someone once, he will greet them like they are a celebrity for the rest of their life. He is gentle/respectful with cats, and loves dogs. He is very quiet, and has lived in apartments all his life (though he will bark if other dogs in the home bark). He is incredibly trainable (learns tricks and commands within 3-4 repetitions!); he sits in the elevator; he does not have any issues with resource guarding, and always takes his treats very gently. He is fully potty trained. He can be left home alone free during working hours without being destructive. He is not a lap dog, but he is very affectionate, a 'lick the tears off your face' dog. He wants to be next to you always. He needs his morning snuggles/hugs/belly rubs, non-negotiable. He's gone on several road trips and done great, and he has even flown in an airplane (he curled up underneath the front seat like the good boy he is for the whole flight). We have noted him bark/growl at small kids a handful of times, so are recommending no homes with small children.%A0 He is not a 'take to happy hour dog.' He is a Netflix and chill dog. He is a 'put on music and dance in the kitchen dog.' He is a 'impress your friends with how many random tricks and things he can do' dog. He doesn't really like playing 'fetch,' but he LOVES playing tag/chase with his humans. If you don't want him to sleep with you in your bed, and sit next to you on your couch *please* do not inquire. He has anxiety (mainly because of unpredictable loud sounds in the city) that is managed with fluoxetine (about ~10$ a month). Other than that, super healthy, and completely up to date on vaccinations. He'd do well with someone who either has a yard, or a dog park in the building. Ideally in a quieter neighborhood, or, if in the city, with someone who is willing to continue working on his confidence to loud noises.
