About Maxi

Adoption Fee: $350
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Maxi is 1.5 year old, classically colored Australian Cattledog who weighs about 38 pounds. Maxi knows her basics, like sit and paw/shake. She is house and crate trained. Maxi is nice meeting new people. She is also good with other dogs when supervised to be sure each dog is polite. For her future home, she should be an only and without kids. Maxi is good in the car and likes car rides. She is a fast learner. She has an iron stomach.%A0 She is a good little sheep herding dog! She goes twice a week so she can get some serious breed fulfillment%A0and she's good at it!! Whoever adopts her can continue at the same facility. She does like to fetch, too. She is nice on leash in a quiet neighborhood. If you're alone and there's not much stimulation she will walk very%A0nicely on your left. If there are squirrels, humans walking dogs, or people jogging, she pulls in excitement until the distraction is passed. Maxi will need a special home to give this girl a chance at a good life. Something must have happened in her past to cause her to have some challenges. Maxi doesn't like to be confined, so she will growl when you put her in the crate, but then settle down. She also doesn't like to be in a small space with a person, like a small bathroom or a tight bedroom. If Maxi doesn't get the structure and exercise she needs, she did demonstrate a tendency to resource guard her space. She also isn't a fan of garden hoses. She has bitten a few times: once when her owner accidentally kicked Maxi when they were sleeping, and no skin was broken. Next, a man scolded her, cornered her, and shook his finger in her face to which she nipped the finger and did break skin. Lastly, after being in a home for 24 hours, the woman sat on the bed right near Maxi's crate, and Maxi bit the finger and broke skin. Maxi had a rough start in life with people who didn't treat her well. She has had a good samaritain step up and help her out with training and patience. Now Maxi is looking for a kind, structured home who keeps her active and gives her the space she needs when it comes to her quirks. She is not available to a home with kids or a busy home with lots of visitors. Maxi is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She lives in LA. She is ready to meet qualified adopters who can meet and adopt here in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required to adopt. This dog is a courtesy post for the Good Samaritan looking to find Maxi the right home. This dog is not part of the Helping Herders program and has not been evaluated by Helping Herders.
