About Riata

This blue gal is Riata. She is a 5 years old Australian Cattledog who was someone's best friend, until she passed away. Now she is looking for her new best friend. As one would expect, this girl is smart and a very quick learner. We know that she at least knows: sit, down, stay, roll over, come, and leave-it. Friends of previous family said she knew how to do lots of stuff and they don't remember it all. Needless to say, this girl is a smartie. Riata walks perfectly on a leash. She shows no reactivity to people or dogs when on walks. She had been nice with dogs she has met, wagging her tail and wanting to follow. She can be wary of strangers, especially men, but warms up quickly. Riata has been around children aged 7 - 11 years old and does great with them. She isn't a huge fan of the vet because it's scary, but that can be managed. Riata did live with a cat, so should be fine with any dog savvy cat in her new home. Riata loves to fetch, just not a tennis ball. She loves to play tug and fetch with other items like an old hose or rope. Riata is a good co-pilot. She loves to ride in trucks. She can be nervous getting into a car with a new person but loves the ride once she gets to know her driver. The most amazing thing about Riata that stands out to me is how much love she has to give. This girl is absolutely best friend material. She loves to snuggle and be pet. She is a typical cattle dog who wants to be with her owner whenever she can, but she is also willing to relax most of the day. She does need daily exercise but is also willing to settle down when it's time to wind down. Riata is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She is located in Menifee, CA. Adopters must be able to meet and adopt here. We do not ship our dogs. A home visit and vet reference are required to adopt.
