About SKY

Name: Sky Age: 6 years Breed: Labradoodle, 42 pounds Sex: Female, spayed Location: Albemarle County, VA Sky's family is relocating out of the country for work this summer and cannot take her with them. Her owner tells us, 'She is a very sweet dog, who makes a great companion. She needs someone who is kind and can spend time with her. She is also very playful.' Vet Info: Sky is spayed and microchipped. She is currently up to date on vaccinations and tested heartworm negative in April of 2022. Sky is partially blind. The vet said that it was congenital, and she has been this way since she was a puppy. Otherwise, Sky is healthy. Dog Info: Sky is an indoor dog with the run of the house. She is housebroken and leash trained. She knows the cue for Sit. Sky is a bit nervous and shy. Her owner tells us, 'Sky is good with anyone that gives her time to get to know them. She is very frightened when someone comes at her to touch her unexpectedly or without her hearing their voice for a while. She seems less frightened by children and teens for some reason.' Sky is good with male dogs and lives with another Labradoodle. While Sky is not possessive with treats, toys, or food, she does become nervous if a stranger enters the house without her family being around. She will bark and growl. Sky will nip at strangers who approach without proper introduction to her but has never broken skin. Sky will shake a bit, most likely due to her nervousness. She is also nervous at the groomer and the vet and shakes. Her owner tells us, 'If a stranger approaches her away from us, she will nip out of fear. She needs to be allowed to hear voices first before people start petting her so she is not fearful.
