About Whisper

Adoption Fee: $50
Lab mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Whisper and her siblings came to Idaho from Oklahoma. She was born June 14 2022, so she's almost 1 years old. The humane society had them down as a corgi/shepherd mix. After doing a Google search I felt I had found what she was, a Blue Lacy. But after posting her photo to a Blue Lacy group was told she wasn't 'purebred' which is silly since the AKC doesn't even consider the Texas herding mix as a breed. Whatever Whisper is, she's beautiful. Her coat always looks clean and has different shades of grey and brown in it. She's super smart. She got basic commands really quick, the trainer was always amazed. Sadly I'm not a very good trainer and never got to more intricate commands. But I'm pretty sure she could do agility or learn herding skills real quick. She has quirks I'm sure will disappear with more activity than I can offer her. She digs and chews, but I know it's out of boredom! She's lived with cats and our braver cat will actively wrestle with her. Our other cat doesn't care for the attention but doesn't quite understand if she runs, she'll get chased. She's lived with our 10 year old terrier mix and they also actively wrestle although sometimes I think Whisper gets a little too rough and I usually break up the fun. At the dog park she used to run and play with Aussies, Borders and Huskies but lately she's been bored (?) I guess with the dog park. I've taken her on a trail in our foothills and she loves it so much, but her recall isn't the greatest (again, my bad training). With proper recall training I know she would be amazing trail companion. She loves her space. She doesn't cuddle unless she really wants to. My 8 year old keeps trying to hug her and kiss her and she tends to react negatively and runs off. So she needs adults or older kids who don't care about having a snuggler. She hates baths. But maybe I didn't introduce it properly. She dead weights herself to the floor and takes a lot of effort to keep her in the bath. She travels in the car ok. I don't think it's her favorite as she'll stay on the floor in the back. If you're going slow, she'll look out the window (sometimes rolling the window down herself!) She needs a job, she needs a large space, she needs a lot of love. She will sit and bark until you pet her. No known allergies. She eats every brand I put in front of her, with or without soft food, broth, etc. She loves treats and really loves anything to chew on. I've spent a lot of money on different bones and chewies for her. She will be a wonderful companion, or a working partner.
