Adoption Fee: $30.00
Lab / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

She's a ~40 pound medium sized lab, possibly pit bull mix. My family found this precious girl looking extremely starved. We immediately found out that she's a very sweet and friendly dog. She had been taken to a vet and was deemed a healthy dog, just underweight. She was also given INV-Triheart Plus 1 month chewable tablet for dogs 26-50 lbs for the prevention of heartworm, roundworm, and hookworm, as well as Bravecto Green 1 month (fluralaner) Chew for dogs 22-44 lbs for the control of ticks and fleas on April 27. We've been feeding her properly, so she looks like she's approaching a healthy weight. She seems to do well with our several cats, doesn't try to eat our birds, and got on well with my sister's small and medium sized dogs. She has never been violent with anyone or anything. We found her to be very skittish, but she has since grown to be more comfortable and sure around us. We think her flinching at touch might've come from an abusive home. She seems to be good with car rides. On our regular walks around the neighborhood, she is protective of me, barking a couple times at people she deems suspicious, but stops as soon as I give a word or pat. She has also never showed any intent to chase anything as we walk, so she's easy to manage and is a very safe and obedient dog around others. She has picked up a habit of wanting to keep a section of the leash in her mouth. I'm not entirely sure why, but I don't mind if she does this if it's something that comforts her so it has never been a problem. She greatly enjoys company and loves to play when given the chance. As a young dog, she has enough energy, but if she has space to freely run around and/or is otherwise taken out to get proper exercise, she's content and pretty docile. She likes to chew on our plastic pots and she doesn't seem to be trained, but I began teaching her to sit and she caught on to this concept within the first 6-8 tries. Of course she would need longer reinforcement on any concept for it to stick permanently, but her quick learning and good nature lead me to believe she'll be easy to train overall. With a few toys and a stuffed animal, her chewing on plastic pots has decreased as well, something I think some training could fix anyways. She has been under my family's care for several weeks and has formed good relationships with all of us already. Her loyalty to and protectiveness over us began pretty soon after we found her when I suppose she decided we would be kind to her, but she has Always been kind. We cannot keep her as we have too many pets already. Additionally, our backyard is too small for her and provides next to no shade, save a patio umbrella and a very small tree. I am greatly concerned for her comfort and well being as the weather gets warmer and more humid, especially since her coat is black. I'm looking for a safe and good home for her. She is the sweetest young dog I've ever met and I'm really hoping someone might be able to take her in and give her care and a proper environment. As I've already had the privilege of getting to care for her and be in company with her myself, I'm certain she would reward such a caretaker with the best companionship, love, and protection she could possibly offer.
