About Hopper

Meet Hopper !! Stunning good looks and a sweetheart. This guy is a bully breed lovers dream. His family had to move and sadly could only take one of their dogs. They knew he had the best chance of getting adopted so he's here with us now looking for his perfect new home. Hopper is approx 3yrs old. He's a pitbull type/ bully breed. He weighs 56 pounds. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is thankfully heartworm negative. Hopper is extremely sweet and happy. He loves everybody. Big lover boy. He's fairly well behaved and does great in the home. He likes other dogs and loves someone to run around the yard and play with. He does however take some time to get used to another dog. Usually a few pack walks and a day or two to adjust is all he needs. He's fostered with several dogs and doing great. They became best friends quickly. We have not cat tested him and have no idea how he would react. Hopper has a medium to high energy level. He's very excitable at times and loves to run and play but also can be very lazy and cuddly. If nothings going on he's usually on the couch sleeping beside you. If there's activity happening he's ready for it! He definitely likes to jump or 'hop' but mostly just in the air and hasn't been jumping on people much. He has most of the basic training mastered. He's rides great in the car and is crate trained. So far he has not been destructive in the home. (We do crate when we aren't home) He marked his territory a few times on day one but since then he's been perfect with his potty training. He's also been doing well with leash walking but can pull at times. He loves sleeping in the bed at night with you. Hopper still plays like a puppy. He will put his mouth on hand and arms. He is not trying to bite he is just playing inappropriately. His foster has been working with him and his new family will need to do the same. Sadly this breed is often misjudged so this behavior can get them in big trouble. Again, no aggression he just didn't learn appropriate play behavior and now needs to learn. For the reason listed above he needs to go to a home with kids over 14. He's not at all aggressive to kids but we want to set him up for success. He has not had any trouble sharing food, treats or toys with people or other animals so far. His foster does not feed dogs together or give high value bones out in a group setting but he has shared toys and treats well and shown no issues over food through the crate. Hopper is so loving and fun. He's got so much potential and he's absolutely gorgeous. He will make his new family very lucky. Vet and home checks required.
