About Yati

Pit Bull / Shih Tzu
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Meet Yati !! This adorable and unique puppy came to us from a small outdoor rural shelter. She was terrified at the shelter but has opened up in her foster home and is getting more confident each day. We really think she may be Rendell's sister who we took from the same shelter about a month ago. They are very similar! She is an approx. 9 month old, female mixed breed and weighs approx. 35 Pounds. The shelter listed her as Boston Terrier and Pug mix, but we do not believe that is true due to her features and size. Rendall (whom we think is related to her) is a pitbull mixed with a shih Tzu according to the old owner. We can see that being what Yati is made of! With that funny little snout and her color and body build it adds up. Yati will be spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped as part of her adoption. She is thankfully heartworm negative. We don't know her history but think she was an outside dog. She's now learning how to live in a house and also having so many new life experiences like seeing cars on walks and meeting other dogs and cats. Although she's already 9 months old her training level is closer to a puppy due to her never getting to experience things. She is however doing very well and making fantastic progress every day. Yati does great with other dogs. She can be a little shy at first and then she loves them. She gets very playful once she is comfortable with her new doggie friends. It would be beneficial for her to have another dog in her new home as this is helping her built up her confidence. She is also fostered with a cat and she completely ignores the cat. She has not been fostered with kids so we do not know how she would do. We suspect she would do well with older kids that can give her space the first few days while she adjusts. She has been nothing but loving and sweet even when scared. Yati has learned a ton about house life very quickly. She is great on car rides. She is still working on potty training. So far her fear of the leash is making it take longer to figure out going potty outside. She would do much better with a fenced yard. She was a bit vocal in the crate at first but is starting to learn now. She still chews up blankets in the crate and does best when given a lick mat, bone or some other similar item to keep her attention on that while in the crate. She is currently still going potty in her crate but with a fenced yard we think potty training will be much easier. We are working with her daily and we know it will all click soon! She has not had any issues sharing food, treats or toys with other dogs or humans. Yati is still a puppy and has a moderate energy level. She's not overly energetic yet but loves to run and play. Once comfortable she will likely be more energetic but she's not a high demand or high energy dog currently. She loves to lay on the deck in the sun. She also loves loves loves toys and bones. She is a shy girl but we are watching her slowly blossom into a confident and happy pup. If you're willing to put some time into training and helping build her confidence you will get the sweetest best friend in return. Vet and home checks required. **Fenced back yard preferred due to leash fears %81%8Fӕ%8FDO NOT APPLY IF YOU RENT AND HAVENT ALREADY ASKED YOUR LANDLORD IF YOU CAN OWN A PITBULL TYPE BREED Unfortunately they are not allowed in most rental situations. ӕ%8F%81%8F Located in Hampton VA.
