About Cal

Adoption Fee: $400.00
American Staffordshire Terrier / Boxer
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Cal has recently completed training with the highly talented Jeff Scarpino at Off the Beaten Trail in Newark, VT and he learned SO much! Jeff worked with him on obedience, impulse control and several other skills. Cal has always been a great dog, but with Jeff's expertise, he is now an AMAZING dog. We have posted several videos captured during training sessions on our website. They share some early challenges and show how quickly Cal progresses to a calmer, more confident dog. As always, Cal aims to please and with his love of treats - he's easy to train. The ideal home for Cal will be with people who enjoy spending time with their dog, going on adventures, and continuing his training. This can be anything from asking him to Sit before his food bowl is placed on the floor to learning a brand new skill. Cal loves to make his people happy. Cal is housebroken and crate trained. He enjoys spending time with his people and the other dogs in his foster home. He LOVES to chase a ball around the yard. He's smart, enjoys car rides, has a friendly personality, and is a fun guy to spend time with. He now knows several commands including Sit, Wait and Down. His estimated date of birth is January 20, 2022 and he weighs about 48 lbs. Cal is heartworm negative and taking monthly prevention. He may have some Boxer DNA in him as he is very skilled at using his paws to pick up, hold & touch objects. On a scale of 1 (low) to 10 (high), Cal is a 5-6 for energy. He can play hard when he gets into it and crash deeply when he's done for the day. We highly recommend training classes for all of our dogs to get everyone off to a great start. Training recommendations are available. ** Deb from Gold Star Dog Training is offering $50 off a basic training class for Cal's adopter. Thank you Deb! ** Our adoption fee is $400 which includes age appropriate vaccines (such as Distemper, Bordetella, Parvo, Rabies), neutering, worming, micro-chipping, and health exam. Discount vouchers for training, grooming and similar dog related products and services are provided.
