About Memphis

Meet Memphis! Memphis is looking for a new home ASAP. I live in an apartment so my situation is way less than ideal. Memphis is a 1 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler who was up from Flint Michigan when she was looking for a final chance before facing euthanasia. Memphis is now living in Defiance Ohio. Memphis's owner had dropped her off and abandoned her because he thought she would be a mini, and 25 pounds of Australian cattle dog is too much for him. He had left Memphis at his mom's house, who was not capable of taking care of a dog and shelters would not take her. I took her in on a temporary basis - and it's time for her to find her forever home. She is not doing well in my home due to loud neighbor dogs who do not stay in their own yard. Since picking Memphis up, she has so far received DHLPP vaccines, flea treatment and LOTS of training! She will soon receive rabies vaccine, heart worm test, microchip, and a spay. Memphis is very handler focused - and unfortunately has some resource guarding issues. She shows lots of improvement quickly, as she went from reactive to playing with my other dog in about a week. She has toy drive for ropes and balls, but an even higher drive for high value treats - cheese, turkey, deer. Memphis is crate trained, house trained, and knows sit and lay down. Memphis will tell you when she needs to go outside. She has not shown any destructive habits either. Memphis can NOT be left alone with dogs - but she also does not attempt to escape her crate to get to other dogs so separating is best with this girl and is doing well under supervision. Also, due to her reactivity in the past, a meet and greet is required. She will guard toys and food, so a plan will need to be set in place. She is showing so much improvement in less than a week! I believe under the right environment, she will be an amazing dog.
