About Buddy

Adoption Fee: $600
Great Dane
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

LOCATION: Forney, Texas DOB: 05/08/2020 (Estimate) Meet your new best friend, Buddy! Looking for a large couch potato? Well look no farther because this big lug of love is happy to spend his evenings curled up on the couch with you. Netflix and chill is his ideal night! This gentle giant loves sitting out sunbathing during the day, and laying with you at night. He doesn't mind occasional walks. He is leash trained, but sometimes acts a little scared when you try to put his leash on. He knows his basic commands like Sit and Down, plus he is working on some more! He is housebroken and he is crate and room trained! He does great with small children, large children, and adults. But due to his size, he needs to be watched with the smaller kiddos. He won't hurt them intentionally, but may accidentally squish them a bit when trying to snuggle! Small animals and cats are an unknown factor with Buddy. His ideal household would either be a single dog family, or one with a female dog. While he isn't aggressive with male dogs, he can show teeth if they come near his favorite spot. He does show dominance traits around males, but is very open and accepting of his female foster sisters-even willing to let them snuggle up with him. Buddy isn't much of a barker. He can be a bit of a drooler though. He's also the occasional garbage digger, so lidded or locked away trash cans are best for this guy. He always looks so remorseful and sorry when he gets yelled at, but sometimes that trash just smells so good! He isn't much of a counter surfer, but does like to rest his head on the counter and table you might be sitting at, leaving an inevitable drool mark after him. He will behave and stay off counters if you're in the room, but food left out can sometimes mean fair game to him. He can also be a kitchen time trip hazard as he likes to be near his people but will oftentimes post up right in the middle of the walkway, watching (and judging) your chef skills. He listens pretty well to stay out if you catch him sneaking in, but he is oh so quiet!!! Buddy can be easily startled by sudden loud noises and if you quickly move towards him he will yip and retreat We are not 100% on his past as he was found as a street stray, so he may have a little doggy PTSD from his past. During storms he prefers to be in a dark room with a blanket, so having a covered kennel or smallroom he can go to be alone would be best for this guy as his safe spot. Buddy is a fantastic dog. He is smart, gorgeous and ready to find his forever home. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .
