Lyla came into the rescue in December, 2020 - we can't believe she's been with us for that long! She was a transfer from another rescue. She'd been part of a huge hoarding situation and the other rescue asked us for help with some of the dogs they'd saved. Lyla was soooooooo scared when she first came to FFFR! She went to a wonderful foster home, where she still is today. With gentleness and patience and encouragement from her foster family - both people and other dogs - Lyla slowly learned that life could be good! In the time she's been with us, Lyla has discovered that people can be kind. She's learned the pleasures of a soft couch, that there can be plenty of tasty treats, that toys won't be taken away from her (although she still tries to hoard them). She has fun running around and playing in a fenced yard. All she needs now is to find her forever family! Lyla is still shy with new people - she probably always will be. With a little time and patience - and yes, a handful of treats - she soon figures out that you're a new friend. She LOVES other dogs and gains confidence from them - so a home with at least one other dog of similar size would be wonderful for her. She still hasn't mastered the fine points of leash walking (she's terrified of leashes), so a fenced yard, for Lyla, is really a necessity. Lyla is an example of why we rescue - to give dogs like her the tools she needs to live her best life. Thanks to her foster family, who has spent over two years teaching Lyla how to 'dog', she's ready for that next step. She will bring smiles and laughter into your life, and will give so much love back. She's a dog who shows her loyalty and gratitude to the people she loves and trusts.
