About Mia

Jack Russell / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Foster or Adopter ASAP! Meet Mia! This young lady is about 2-3 years old and weighs 35-40 pounds. We're not sure of her breed, but if Super Cute was recognized by the AKC, Mia would win top prize! She is housetrained, up-to-date on veterinary care, and spayed. Her adopter must live fairly close to her location in Brockton MA to easily meet her multiple times and to participate in the free training her sponsors will provide. Mia came from a home with domestic violence. She was surrendered to Gardner Animal Control, understandably uncertain about life. She has been cared for by the staff at J.M. Pet Resort for months, waiting for someone to take her home. She has already made great strides but she's overdue for that perfect someone to take her to the last step in her journey - a forever home! Mia is a really sweet girl who likes to please. She loves human companionship but gets anxious when left alone for long periods of time. She needs someone who is home much of the day. Mia is very active and loves to be outdoors. She enjoys walks and would certainly like hiking and other family activities. Since she is very smart and has a tendency to over-bond with one person, her new pet parent must have patience and experience handling dogs in a leadership role. She needs kindness and positive reinforcement but should not be coddled because of her past. Mia thrives when given structure, a consistent daily routine, and boundaries. Knowing what to expect is a great stress-buster for dogs like Mia. Mia likes playing with other dogs but can be a little choosy with her four-legged friends. When paired with the right pup, she loves to romp and play. She should have opportunities to socialize with other dogs; however, for her home life she needs to be the only dog. She is not a match for cats or small critters either. A fence-in-yard is preferred but not a deal breaker. No apartment buildings, but rather a home where she can readily go outside. Team Mia has developed a recipe for her success! Only pet, adult home Experienced handler as described above Exercise and continued socialization with dogs Daily routine and rules.
