About Thor

Hello, I am posting on behalf of my mother in law who is located in Central Oregon, Warm Springs specifically. It hurts to post this but ultimately it is best for Thor, a 6 year old male pit bull who up until last year was being cared for by my father in law, Lewis 'Louie' Selam who went missing in the wilderness March 16, 2022 (pictured with Thor in the photo, Louie is on the national missing persons site). Thor is just too big for my elderly MIL to take care of, he is a hefty 83 lbs at his last vet appointment earlier this year and very strong. My wife and I moved from Seattle to help MIL but it is getting to be too much as we have our own animals to care for as well. Thor has been recently neutered, was not used for breeding, Louie just didn't 'believe' in neutering. Thor also had two teeth pulled at the visit, we think he chewed on a rock, though he does not chew on shoes/furniture etc he does have a dinosaur chew toy he enjoys.. In his younger years he had two small dog housemates, but has not been socialized with any others since. Will bark at visitors but friendly once the initial meet, he also loves to sit at his big window and watch the world outside occasionally barking at roaming dogs and cats outdoors. Unsure if he has ever been around children/babies. Crate 'house' trained, very food driven but no food aggression. Loves to spend time outside lounging in the sun and going for walks. Alright on a leash walking, I have been trying to work with him on pulling when he sees dogs/cats but am unable to give him the consistency needed. Does well in the car, hates baths/showers, doesn't mind fireworks or loud noises. He is a pretty goofy guy, loves massages and cuddles. He would do well with someone strong and inclined to go outdoors for walks/hikes and who can give him the time and love he deserves. We have tried multiple different rescues over the past 6 months with no luck and we don't just want to drop him off at the pound, any help is appreciated. Please reach out if interested.
