About Freya

Freya is a Beautiful loving 1 1/2 year old female Great Dane in need of a home of her own. Freya was deteriorating in the local kill shelter she was refusing food and 70lbs under weight we adopted her to foster. Freya is great with people and cats she walks great on a leash with a head harness which will go with her to her new home. She is 100% crate and house trained and knows sit and down she will try and out stubborn you sometimes though. She has shown no food aggression towards people or animals. However she is selective with dogs while she is now able to be with our dogs small to large it was a slow process and she still slips into the mindset of resource guarding her people from other dogs. She responds well to correction and backs off instead of escalating if another dog corrects her rude behavior its definitely a work in progress and she will need a home experienced with a dog who resource guards and knows how to correct it or simply a home with no other dogs. She ignores chickens and birds if they are in a cage or behind a fence. She has not bothered our fish turtles or lizards we don't have any small furry animals to test her with though. She is really not fond of outside and would prefer being inside with you and will let you know all about it especially if the ground is even the slightest bit damp the diva. She is getting better with spending more time outdoors as long as another dog is outside to play with her. While we have been working on it she is young and clumsy she forgets how big she is at times and sometimes jumps when excited she is getting better about it but when she gets the zoomies its like a bucking bull running all around you so for this reason it may be best for her to be in a home with older children or a dane experienced home that understands and will continue to work with her on it. Freya is a wonderful dog who just wants to love on and be loved on by her people. She needs a family of her own that can give her lots of attention bonus points if you have someone that will throw a slobbery ball as much as she wants you to :) If you would like more information about her such as more pictures or video please don't hesitate to contact me.
