About Stevie

Adoption Fee: $50
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Stevie is a spunky, 2 year old, spayed, Australian Cattle Dog (heeler). She is up to date on all vaccines and is chipped. She does have environmental allergies and takes medication to help. Tempe, Arizona She is a high energy dog and can go all day long but also knows that when I sit at my computer it's time to rest. She loves to go to the park and chase the ball around - not great at bringing it back. Stevie will go on any adventure - she loves to camp, kayak, hike and run. She has had training and does very well learning commands and tricks. She is very good with basic commands (Sit, stay, here, drop and go get it). She knows many more commands but she chooses when she prefers to 'come' or agree to recall. She loves to be off leash but I only allow that in environments when I can control the recall. Her leash manners could use some work but she does really well with a gentle leader harness. She is not crate trained, I have not had any problems with her free roaming when gone or during the night. She is potty trained. No food aggression. A quick walk with strangers and dogs helps release some of the tension that comes from fear and insecurity in meeting new people and dogs. She has nipped at ankles before but with more training and trust, I think this can be fully broken. She lives part time with a dog and 3 adults and the other half of that time is spent with just one person. She does great in both environments and adapts well. She is protective of the home. She would be best in a home with older children or no children, as she does not do well in unpredictable situations (small children). A large yard with a fence would be her dream. She would love to be with someone who can spend all day with her and take her on a lot of adventures. She loves to do training because she loves to impress. I am rehoming her because my life circumstances have changed and I cannot provide her with the adequate amount of activity that she needs due to my travel schedule and I do not believe that she would thrive in a boarding facility multiple times a month, nor is that financially a possibility for me.
