About Addie

My husband and I have found ourselves in a situation where we need to find Addie a new home. We adopted Addie, from the West Valley Humane Society 15 months ago. She has been increasingly showing aggression to our 2 other female labs in the home. We are hopeful that Addie would be a good candidate for adoption in a family with no other dogs/cats. She is a pretty calm dog and I would not call her high energy, but she does love to play fetch with a tennis ball and she benefits greatly from daily walks and/or sessions of fetch. Our hope is that someone could foster or adopt Addie and work with her to see if she could do well in a single pet household. Addie's resource guarding/aggression has only occurred inside our home - never in the yard or anywhere in public. (And we take all 3 dogs out with us frequently.) Unfortunately, Addie just does not like to share the house, toys or her humans with our other two dogs. Agressive behavior towards our other two dogs is escalating and becoming too stressful for us and our other dogs. (And I imagine for Addie, as well.) Addie is a beautiful girl who loves to cuddle in our laps and in bed with us. She has a lot of personality and is well trained and obedient. We are in contact with our vet who did a full physical/medical work-up to rule out any physical issues. We have also consulted 2 trainers. This is difficult for us because Addie has become a part of our family and we love her very much, but it cannot continue as it is and we want to do the right thing by Addie and by our other 2 dogs.
