About Layla

Layla is a 6 y/o Beagle that I 'adopted' along with her brother Max about 6 weeks ago. I got them from a lady who could no longer care for them properly.She had been trying to rehome them for a while & was about to take them to the shelter here in Charlotte where they both would have been promptly euthanized due to overcrowding. One look at that sweet face & my heart melted! When we got them , they needed some help. Layla had a severe ear infection that required antibiotics. She had a raw, reddened, itchy area around her genitalia that my vet attributed to untreated allergies. She was on the thin side. She drank so much water in the first couple of weeks that we had her I had her screened for diabetes - which was negative. She was caged for most of the day since her owner had to work. Her vaccines were expired. Her allergies are now controlled with 1 generic Zyrtec tab daily. She is currently on 8mg of Apoquel daily for the next 2 weeks to help with her itchy skin & she has responded very well to treatment. She is a very sweet, loving,happy,playful , smart girl. She & her brother Max are very much a bonded pair so adopting them to the same home would be preferred. Anyone interested should have a 6ft fenced backyard or acreage in a rural area so this frisky girl can run around & play. A family with children to play with would be ideal.
