About Pony

Pony (longhair male with short legs) and Tiffy (shorthair female with long legs) are almost 15 mos old siblings although they look pretty different. They are very sweet and affectionate once they get to know you but they are shy until they trust you. They were rescued in Mexico as a litter of 5 pups and they kept together without much interaction with people unti close to 1 year old. I was only taking Pony to foster and socialize for adoption but he came along with Tiffy, one of his siblings by mistake. Fostering 2 shy pups has been a challenge because they feed fear each other and take a lot of time to get over the shyness. What made it even worse was the weather! Since they came to me late January, it rained almost every day so they spent most of their time in our utility room. Fortunately, the weather recently got much better and I have been taking them for walks and dog park, etc. I looked for someone to foster one of them so that each will get more attention to become independent but I could not find another foster. In the meantime, I started to think it's not a bad idea if they can get adopted together to a home where both of them will be loved and given a chance to grow to more confident dogs with patience. They are potty trained and walk nicely on leashes. They love walks! Since they are shy they have good recalls too, I mean they don't just run off to adventure. They have learned; Sit, down, leave it, off (don't jump) commands. They need a home with a fenced yard and a patient owner who is familiar with shy dogs.
