About Nemo

Meet Nemo. He is about 11-12 months old and weighs about 50-55 lbs. He loves other dogs and would love to have a sibling with 4 legs to play with. He is good with other dogs and cats. Nemo spent the first 4 months of his life at a rural shelter with his siblings. They were not socialized and were terrified. Nemo was the most shy of the group. Nemo then spent the next 4+ months at the Lexington Correctional Center to learn how to be a dog and learn that he can trust people. His handler worked diligently to make up the socialization Nemo had missed at the most critical time of his young life. Nemo has come out of his shell very well and is hoping for his happy ending now. He still gets a little nervous around lots of people or loud environments but once he learns he can trust his human he is more accepting of most situations. He did great at his Vet appointment! As with any dog, it is highly advisable the adopter take Nemo to some classes and work with a force free trainer to build a trusting relationship. Being 'heavy handed' will crush this sensitive dog's soul. The program director of the program at Lexington Correctional Center has offered a complimentary session with his adopter, if they live within a reasonable distance.
