About SAM

Meet SAM! Sam is about 7-8 yrs. old, weights approx. 65-68 lbs, is neutered and microchipped and is up to date with all vaccinations. SAM lives in the home of Founder of ADR.org on Orcas Island, WA. He is living with 2 cats and other dogs. ADR.org saved SAM from a shelter in CA where he was surrendered with the comment - 'we do not want him anymore'. He was labeled as Otterhound. ADR.org thinks there might be another breed DNA in him e.g., Schnauzer or hunting dog. While SAM is not the easiest dog, and needs more training on manners and obedience, he is very submissive to the right person, respects him/her and obeys commands. and he can be charming when he wants to. Sam is selective with dogs he likes or does not feel bullied. He is always good with females and smaller dogs. He can easily live with a cat or cats - as he does now. More leash Training is needed, and lots of burning off energy. ADR.org can see Sam in a home with no small children, firm people (single or couple), that have a sense of owner responsibility and are strong pack leaders.
