About Chrome

LOCATION: Duncan, Oklahoma DOB: 12/25/2021 Our beautiful blue Great Dane, Chrome AKA Chromeo, is exactly that-a somber, forlorn lover. His sad eyes tell a lament of life of unimaginable sorrow and deception. He is terrified of adult men but much less guarded around women and girls. It may take days, weeks, or months for him to approach a man. Suffice to say, he's tolerant with someone he trusts. He is, however, very gentle and patient with children. Since he has never seen toys, he has no idea what to do with them or what they are for and at this point, he isn't given to play with humans at all. He will run around happily with other dogs, but doesn't necessarily engage in play. Chrome has never had any formal training. House breaking, leash, and commands are completely foreign to him. He knows his name, that's about it. His foster parents are currently working him on a leash, but to say he's leash trained would be a long stretch. He has spent many days and nights in the house (the first of his life) and he has not made a single mess. He always waits to go potty outside. When he got to the foster he was between 20 and 30 pounds underweight and they are slowly seeing some gains. His appetite is good, but he is very guarded and wary about anyone watching him eat. He is HIGHLY intelligent and VERY observant of anything going on around him especially of people and their movements. If he interprets movements as manipulative or threatening to his space or escape route, he becomes nervous and paces, and in extreme cases, very elusive. His foster parents have NEVER observed any hostility or aggression in Chrome towards humans or other dogs. It's almost the complete opposite as he will find and take any escape possible to avoid conflict, even to his own harm. Despite everything that has happened to Chrome in the past, he has chosen gentleness instead of violence to mitigate his fears-and that may be his most admirable quality. He needs a patient and compassionate family to show him that life can truly be beautiful.
