About Chester (Chesty)

Adoption Fee: $600
Great Dane
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

LOCATION: Lone Oak, Texas DOB: 03/30/2019 (Estimate) Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, if I could have your attention please? My name is Chester (but my friends call me Chesty). I am searching for just the right person or family to take me into their home and love me forever. Would you mind if I took just a moment of your time to tell you about myself? Before we get to the fun stuff, I want to start by saying I am not blind but I am visually impaired. This is very important because it means my new home must meet a few requirements as my safety is a priority for sure. I can absolutely not be at a home that has a pool. Danger ranger! My outdoor space must have a fenced yard and my home cannot have a lot of stairs that I would need to try to navigate frequently. A couple steps are okay as I can adapt to my environment but I may stumble as I cannot see very well where my feet should be placed. Lastly, a low-key, quieter type of home would be helpful. I don't mind kids but I need to be around people that can understand my special needs. Relaxed, laid-back teenagers would be just fine. Okay! Now that we got the business stuff out of the way, let's talk about fun stuff! First, I am a lovebug. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Being in my foster home where I am loved unconditionally, I am learning to be a more confident pet and my courage is starting to peek through. My foster parents say I'm making tremendous progress in these areas and that makes me feel really good about myself. I've learned simple commands such Go lay down, Bedtime , Outside potty, and Out (as in Chester, get Out of the kitchen. I don't need your help cooking.) I'm learning to get in and out of a vehicle on a leash. Who knew this was important?! I am comfortable enough on a leash to be able to get to where you need me to go but I may never be okay with taking long strolls around the block. Also, I am getting introduced to new people and new situations so that my life experiences continue to grow by leaps and bounds. I have a furry foster sibling that is helping me learn the ropes on how to be a happy-go-lucky dog. Cats are cool, too, but I really like having a canine BFF to hang with. I love treats. I mean-who doesn't? My all-time favorites are the bacon-flavored ones and my foster parents dip those in peanut butter. Doesn't that sound wonderful!! They also give me cooked chicken and scrambled eggs since they said too many treats would give me an upset belly. I'm like 99.9% positive if I could live off peanut butter, sandwiches and cookies dipped in peanut butter, or scrambled eggs, I'd be in heaven. I am doing pretty good with potty training. If I have access to a doggie door during the daytime that is super cool. But it is not a requirement. We have figured out that I need a very consistent routine and schedule for me to be my most successful. When my foster parents need to leave home for a bit, I am never destructive and can be left to free-roam the house. I have a really big kennel that I share with my furry foster siblings and sometimes it is nice to just go lay in there and take a nap but after 20 or 30 minutes, I start to get antsy. I prefer for the kennel door to stay unlocked so that I can choose to stay or choose to leave. My wish list for my new home isn't long-patience, understanding, and love. (If you want to throw in peanut butter and/or scrambled eggs, I won't stop you.) ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .
