Meet Bruno Mars! He is a 9-year-old, purebred Rottweiler from Haverhill, MA who weighs about 100 pounds; he is neutered, heartworm and lyme negative, and up to date on rabies and distemper immunizations. Don't let his size fool you - he's just the goofiest of teddy bears hiding inside a big rottweiler costume! This easy-to-please, low-energy boy is looking for a home with a leisurely vibe. Bruno is amazing when people come to the house. He wags his little stump tail and nudges your hand to keep the attention coming. He also rolls over onto his back which is his way of demanding belly rubs. If you want to win some brownie points, throw a tennis ball and give him a bowl of water. That's all it takes for him to love you. He enjoys car rides, chasing tennis balls, nose work games, popping squeaky toys, and chewing bones. It's no surprise that he loves food and even though he's an XXL boy, he just loves to be called 'baby.' Who doesn't like a well-mannered dog? Bruno is not destructive in his home, is potty-trained, and prefers keeping all four paws on the floor instead of jumping on people. He also has good self control when told to 'wait' before eating or grabbing a new toy. He can also be redirected when doing something he shouldn't (he's been caught digging holes to see what's on the other side of the fence!)...and, who doesn't like a quiet dog? Bruno is not a vocal dog at all. He barks only when he is in 'guard' mode, but never incessantly. He also sleeps all night in his crate without making a peep. His current owner took him in on 1/13/23 when his original owners needed to rehome him quickly due to a housing situation. Unfortunately the new environment is much different from what Bruno was used to. Because of a very fast rehome, there was no time for proper introductions. He was thrown into an unfamiliar house with an already established dog pack, some cats, and a new human. That's a whole lot to take in! Soon after joining this strange pack, he had two situational bite incidents. The incidents will be explained in detail to any prospects. The reason for rehoming is because the dogs and cats that were there first are still at odds. Please consider welcoming Bruno into your life. He will be a wonderful companion and guard dog for an adult-only family who has experience with rottweilers (or similar) and the protective drive that they naturally possess. He'll need time to decompress, a quiet spot of his own, and not be expected to snuggle. Bruno's good at communicating through body language, which will also be explained in detail to prospects. He must have a 6-foot tall privacy fence that encloses the yard, because he is protective of his turf and humans. He will react to 'threats' by barking, growling, and/or lunging toward animals and people outside of the home. No apartments or city living. No children. No cats or other dogs. This handsome son of a gun is a big, goofy, lazy boy that just wants a quiet house to guard and a human or two to protect. Please email his current owner at [email protected] for more information.
