About Sarge

Lab
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Sarge is an 11-12-year-old male chocolate lab that absolutely loves life. Don't let his age on paper fool you! These 68-pound gentlemen have an appropriate, enjoyable level of energy for a best friend. Sarge's favorite activities include snuggling, cuddling, and being a pet. Sarge is an excellent companion that is grateful for any time spent with humans, and he shows his gratitude with tail wags and kisses! Sarge is indifferent toward cats, and he is very tolerant toward other dogs. He does not play with them as he is too mature for that child's play, but he doesn't lose his cool with the young guns either. That's an admirable trait in an older soul. Sarge isn't much for a game of fetch at his age, but he does enjoy running around the yard to burn some energy off. After some proper time for adjusting, Sarge may show his love for fetch. He's been through a lot of changes recently. He's doing amazing with those drastic changes, and his resiliency is a testament to just how great of a dog Sarge is! Sarge has done fantastic with crate training. He has not made a peep in his crate, and he willingly shoots right in it when he wants to rest. Sarge is learning the land of being a house pet, and boy does he love it! His foster home is working on his trustworthiness in the house with house training. He is becoming more trustworthy by the day. Sarge is capable of holding his bladder. People just never taught him the rules of being a pet, so now he is learning the joys of being a pet! Sarge has one manageable behavioral flaw his foster home is addressing. Sarge is a resource guard over his food and toys in his crate with other dogs and with cats. He does not guard resources with adult humans. Resource guarding is a behavioral trait that can be addressed with training, and during the training process, the risk can be drastically reduced by feeding him in his crate with the door closed. He will do best in an Adult household and would enjoy being an only dog or with one other.
