About Gus

Adoption Fee: $150
American Staffordshire Terrier mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Gus was adopted as a puppy and then his family moved out of the country and left him behind to fend for himself and he was found on the streets by the neighbors. Kind neighbors were feeding him and reached out for help and a kind animal guardian went and took him under her wing and now he has a team of animal advocates helping and caring for him. Gus is a 2 year old mastiff mix. He weighs 60 lbs. He is up to date with his vaccines and is neutered. He is very loving and affectionate but is learning to trust again after being abandoned so he will need a patient, calm environment to gain trust and show his love. We are currently fostering this boy but we want to find him a permanent home. He had to learn how to get into a vehicle but since he did he rides very well and just sits quietly in the back. He is learning his leash walking skills, since it appears he was rarely given walks before we saved him. He has a high prey drive so he would not do well with small animals and I would say older children, no little ones as we don't know his history with kids. He has been temperament tested with calm dogs and he did very well. He gives kisses and takes treats very gently and he's excellent when left home alone. He patiently and quietly lays on his bed and waits for his fosters to get home. His perfect home would need to be someone willing to work with him, that is very responsible and who can continue with his training. Someone that won't give up on him. He has amazing potential. Gus is receiving training and making amazing strides everyday and really enjoys being lead by his people. He is a beautiful boy and he deserves a forever home! Please consider helping him. Gus's ideal home would be someone that has a yard for him to roam and play and is willing to take him for 1-2 walks a day, someone that is going to provide him with plenty of love and affection and is willing to continue socializing him at a slow pace. Gus will be the best companion you could ask and will shower you with love and loyalty. Application and home visit required.
